Rolls-Royce has always excelled at producing luxury vehicles and one of those fancy set of wheels is the Rolls-Royce Phantom. The Eighth-generation Phantom has been teased and is on course to be launched soon. After its launch the vehicle will be on sale in international as well as the domestic market.
The eighth generation Phantom carries the iconic design from Rolls-Royce and the manufacturer is unlikely to change it. The new luxo-barge gets a restyled front and rear. The front of the vehicle features a larger grille than its predecessors and the car now sports laser-LED headlamps, a technology pioneered by the parent company BMW. The side profile is expected to be similar to its predecessor and will carry the iconic suicide doors. The roof goes lower as it flows to the rear of the car making it more elegant.
Being the world’s most luxurious car, creature comforts will be in abundance and buyers will be offered a wide choice of materials and finishes to suit their taste. The eight generation Phantom will also be a part of the Bespoke programme that offers an even wider range of customisation and personalisation of the Rolls-Royce cars. Inside the cabin, the rear seat of the vehicle has been placed higher for a dominant and commanding position for the passengers. The umbrellas scooped into the rear doors remain unchanged. The dashboard is expected to house an analogue instrument cluster and a large steering wheel dominates the cabin.
Rolls-Royce has worked on a new aluminium-infused spaceframe chassis construction to keep the weighing scale in check. The new chassis construction will also allow the Phantom to have better driving dynamics. The Rolls Royce Phantom VIII will be powered by the same engine as its predecessor, a 6.75-litre V12 engine mated to an eight speed automatic transmission, capable of producing 571bhp and 780Nm of torque. That being said, the new car is expected to have power and torque figures higher than its predecessor.
With the expected price tag of Rs 10 crore, the Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII has no direct rival. However, in the luxury benchmark segment it is pitted against the 2017 Bentley Mulsanne.
